Margin of Error – Destroy.Create.Repeat.

Margin of Error - Destroy.Create.Repeat.A lot of artists are good at creating a lot of hype about their upcoming album well before its release only to let you down when the disc finally arrives.  Margin of Error’s latest release, Destroy.Create.Repeat. has had quite a bit of online buzz and it’s finally here, but does it live up to all the anticipation?

Not exactly…  the fact of the matter is that Margin of Error highly underestimated the greatness of this disc and exceeded the hype of the album with flying colors!  Without a doubt, DCR is one of the finest industrial albums I’ve heard in years and probably the best release I’ve had the privilege to review this year to date.

Destroy.Create.Repeat. is a dynamically charged, terrifyingly beautiful soundscape of epic proportions.  Trav15 T., the madman behind the project, is an artist like no other, who displays an uncanny control over music like a painter on canvas.  With many albums filled with distorted keyboards, drums and guitars, it’s often hard to enjoy them as many end up sounding like blatant demonstrations of extrememe noise for the sake of making noise, but this is not the case with DCR.  Instead, Travis T. has mastered the art of distorted sound manipulation without the losing the beauty of the songs in the process.

What I liked best about this album is that it’s one of those rare discs where you can actually hear artist’s the passion for making music in the songs.  While the overall production is different from a lot of albums out there, it works to Margin of Error’s advantage.  Trav15 T. uses just the right amount of distortion, vocal effects and other weapons in his arsenal.  The end result is a disc that sounds honest and full of emotion.  There’s a lot of great sounding albums out these days, but so many artists end up with a product that sounds dead on your speakers.  Destroy.Create.Repeat. is full of life and stands out from the rest of the crowd.

Another point to note with this album is the overall package.  Without a doubt, this is one of those discs that if I saw in a store, I would potentially buy for the album artwork alone.   The cover, insert and everything else that goes into the presentation is awe inspiring.  Overall, from the music to the packaging, Destroy.Create.Repeat. is a work of art.

There’s a theme in this album that Margin of Error runs with from start to finish…  “Art is Dangerous”…

and so is this album.

Tracks from Destroy.Create.Repeat. that I really enjoyed are Physical Body Projection, Vital Signs, Theory and Symbol.
